Lora is a
Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s of
Science Degree in Nursing from the
Medical College of Virginia. She has
worked as a registered nurse; been a
small business owner and creator of
Toothfairy Designs, a line of keepsake
jewelry; and has also held several
political positions. Lora has served in
many volunteer capacities in the
community and has been very involved in
her church. In appreciation for
her role in protecting the children
of Shelby County, Lora was the 2007
recipient of the James G. Hughes
Community Advocate Award from the
Memphis Child Advocacy Center. She
has
three adult children and two
granddaughters. |
Lora and
Barbara met when they served together as elected
School Board Commissioners in Memphis,
Tennessee, one of the largest urban
school districts in the country. They
collaborated on several projects as well as the
development of public school policy.
